We’re a fast-moving startup building the next generation of cloud infrastructure. Today’s cloud platforms are powerful, but inefficient — built on decades-old software that no longer matches modern workloads. Backed by award-winning research and open-source technology, we’ve developed Unikraft Cloud, a radically more efficient platform for running cloud applications with better performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.

We’re looking for a junior infrastructure engineer who thrives at the intersection of technology and real-world use cases. You’ll work directly with customers to help them migrate, optimize, and scale on our platform; And in the process, help shape the evolution of modern cloud computing.

What You’ll Do

  • Support customers as they onboard and migrate infrastructure onto Unikraft Cloud.
  • Debug, optimize, and improve container-based workloads and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build tooling and automation to streamline deployment and platform integration.
  • Work across engineering and product teams to improve our platform based on real-world feedback.
  • Communicate directly with users and developers to solve infrastructure challenges in high-impact environments.

What You Bring

Core Skills

  • Solid experience with Docker, Dockerfiles, and containerized applications.
  • Strong foundation in Linux systems and common build tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Clear communication skills and a comfort interacting directly with customers or external developers.
  • Interest in debugging, performance tuning, and platform reliability.

Bonus Skills

  • Understanding of OCI specifications and container image formats.
  • Exposure to low-level systems (e.g., C/C++, virtualization, microVMs like Firecracker).
  • Familiarity with QEMU, KVM, or other virtualization frameworks.
  • Programming experience in Go, Python, or Rust is a plus.

Your Mindset

  • Curious, analytical, and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable jumping into new environments (e.g., different runtimes, build systems, programming languages).
  • Collaborative and proactive — you don’t wait to be told what’s broken.
  • Passionate about building performant, reliable infrastructure that actually solves user problems.

Why Join Us

  • Help shape the future of cloud computing by working on a platform built for hyperscale efficiency.
  • Join a high-caliber, technical founding team focused on shipping fast and learning even faster.
  • Remote-first from day one — work wherever you’re most productive.
  • Have real ownership and direct impact on our product and customer outcomes.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and room for growth.
  • Six weeks of annual paid time off.
  • Generous hardware/equipment budget.
  • Yearly in-person team retreats.
